Cmdr. Al

aka DJ Klectic, El Ouise

I was a burner for several years, back about 10 years ago, lots of experience with making life nice on the playa. Looking forward to this new experience with such a wonderful international flavor.

Back then, when Burning Man was just starting to grow, it was a wonderful experience. I was part of the Disgruntled Postal Workers, and created helpful hints for burners known as Heloise of the Playa. I hope you will check out the hints and I'm really looking forward to contributing as radio deejay Klectic, serving as a roving reporter, and generally having fun.

I'm the pilot of the intrepid Rocketvan, a 1997 Chevy Astro artcar. It's been an artcar and driven daily for many years. I've owned it since summer 1998.

That's my Rocketvan. It was at Burningman '98 but it was not an artcar at that point in its life. I'm a longtime member of the Portland Cacophony Society, I went to Burningman back in 95, 96, 97, 98 and then it got too big for my taste. Nowdays I do the artcar shows in Seattle and sometimes San Francisco.

I work as a web developer in Salem, OR during the day and goof off at night. Here are some of my own websites: Rocketvan.com, Push Push a computer game I wrote ages ago for Mac and now it's a flash game, my old part-time business that's run by my ex girlfriend now, Flamingo Nightmare

I do 3D photography. I've been creating 3D images for around 10 years. Here's a picture I took at Burningman back in '96. It's in 3D ... cross your eyes until the images merge together.

I'm looking forward to photographing the Nowhere fest in 3D. It should be a lot of fun.

I noticed that Aran Graphics was building solar cookers... I used this design in 95 and 96 at Burningman. They worked fantastically.

It's easy to build out of one piece of cardboard, folds up compactly and works great. Here's the construction plans
