It's all about the art, folks

And art is what you make it... You've come up with a huge range of stuff so far, and as always we'll be surprised at what pops up on site that we didn't know about. What we do know about you can find on the wiki at http://wiki.goingnowhere.org/2007/CurrentProjects and at http://www.nowheredays.com/proyectos (in Spanish).

Among all the projects you'll find not only Nowhere's first art car, but Nowhere's second and third art cars too! At this rate we'll be organising a Nowhere art car gumball rally... Will the first one on site be La Leche, the Nowhere Fire Service or the Men Fishing Catamaran? Or are there more of you hiding art car projects up your sleeves?

Thanks go to everyone who submitted proposals for art grants... There will be a second round of art grants starting from now. The Art Grants team is accepting proposals from now up to June 15th, with decisions made on a rolling basis up to that date. Part of the fund will be reserved to this date to ensure that later applicants aren't wasting their time. Proposals need to follow the guidelines on http://en.goingnowhere.org/ArtGrants and be emailed to art (at) goingnowhere.org

Ticket price goes up in three weeks!

Remember that the 70 Euro tickets and the kids' tickets are only available until the end of May – get on down to http://en.goingnowhere.org/tickets and get yours now! After that it's 90 euros for tickets in advance, and we're not selling them on the gate: you must buy your ticket in advance!

Calling out for web demons

We're planning a revamp of the Nowhere website (http://www.goingnowhere.org), but we're low on people with the necessary skills. We're looking for additions to the web team, both on the technical side and with copywriting.

If you've got a working knowledge of PHP or your words flow and inspire those around you, and you have time to spare to help, please get in touch with dave(at)goingnowhere.org.

Hydration will make you happy and healthy

We thought we'd just put out a good word for drinking plenty... Of course this and many other things will come out in the survival guide with your tickets, but this one's so important we're going to remind you now as well.

The days are long and hot at Nowhere – if you thought it was tough getting through the day at Burning Man then you're sure to enjoy the whole THREE HOURS extra daytime we get at Nowhere! And it can get hotter too. So don't underestimate the power of the sun – wear that hat and drink plenty so you piss clear...

Bring plenty of rehydration salts/drinks too, not just water – your body loses vital minerals when you sweat, and you need to replenish these as well as the moisture. Tip of the day – don't wait until you feel dehydrated, drink a rehydration drink anyway.

Bog on

We've had some interesting responses to the International Toilet Design Competition 2007 that will put Eurovision to shame. Make your mark on Nowhere by designing its most luxurious toilet ever, and be forever famous. We're taking proposals for the designs up to 27th May, and we're offering a small amount of money towards materials.

Building the Middle of Nowhere

The Middle of Nowhere is the central shade structure and social and entertainments space at Nowhere, where people gather to meet, share, eat, greet, learn, dance, sing and just escape from the heat of the midday sun. This year we're adding a stage to improve its scope for performance, so it will be an even better space than last year.

We need a few more people to join the construction crew in the lead-up to Nowhere opening. Are you planning to get out there early and want to get involved in a crucial project? Get in touch!

Musicians – aRÖCKalypse needs you!

Alongside desolation and destruction, we're bringing the first ever live music stage to Nowhere 2007 in a post-apocalyptic wall of noise.

If you can rock, roll, tinkle, twang, beat, stomp, strum, harmonise, sing, screech or scream, we need you.

Help make Nowhere history and become an aRÖCKalypse live performer.

aRÖCKalypse will offer:

• • live music
  • the devil's own sound system, playing firey hits from the hot gates of hell
  • the place for soothing smoothies and hangover themed mornings
  • an unrelenting whisky and shooter bar 
  • a glimpse into the terrifying future.

aRÖCKalypse will teach you:

If you want to camp with us, it's not too late. We'll be providing basic cooking facilities (but no food), shade, water and booze, plus the opportunity to get involved in our madness – all for a small camp fee. Contact Jess for more details.

New forum open

We had a forum back in the second year of Nowhere, courtesy of the Karma Police from Black Rock City. It was a popular tool for planning anything from rideshares and shared supplies purchasing to building of projects.

The web team have been working hard behind the scenes on a number of things, and one of them is our very own forum. It's up and running, and now it's over to you all to use it if you want. Many people find forums easier to use than wikis, so if you're one of these then check it out at http://talk.goingnowhere.org

Style-wise it will be tweaked to bring it into line with the look and feel of the rest of the site, but you don't need to wait until then to start using it! It's simple to register and start posting threads.

La hidratación te hará felíz y te mantendrá sano

Quisiéramos recordar lo importante que es el beber agua. Ya te informaremos con mas detalle en la guía de supervivencia pero aquí van algunos datos:

En Nowhere los días son largos y muy calurosos. Además comparado con Burning Man hay 3 horas más de sol al día. Porfavor bebe mucho agua y ponte un sombrero. Truco: Si tu pis sale transparente, entonces estás bebiendo suficiente agua.

Además del agua, es importante que traigas sales y minerales, bebidas deportivas.

Reunion Piss Clear ¿Qué, Dónde y Cuando?

KNOW News es un nuevo boletín de información sobre todo lo que estará pasando en Nowhere.

Se necesitan voluntarios y participación! Sista Cin se encargará de recopilar toda la información de proyectos, performances, instalaciones y más para que sepamos que, cuando y donde ocurrirán las cosas.

Si vas a venir a Nowhere como campamento temático mándanos la siguiente información:

1. Nombre del Campamento
2. 2. Descripción del Campamento
3. Actividades (horarios, fechas)
4. Cualquier otra información que quieras

Si vas a hacer un proyecto artístico, porfavor mándanos la siguiente información:

1. Proyecto
2. Artista
3. Cualquier información adicional

Si has escrito o te gustaría escribir cualquiera de las siguientes propuestas, envíanoslo y los colgaremos:

1. haikus o poemas relacionados con Nowhere
2. Recetas del desierto
3. Experiencias, pensamientos, chistes, esperanzas o miedos

Si se te ocurre otra cosa que no está aquí descrito, envíanoslo de todas maneras. Por motivo de espacio es posible que no vamos a poder incluir todas las propuestas.

Contruyendo Nowhere

En el centro de Nowhere se alza una estructura central de sombra y entretenimiento. Un lugar done la gente se reune para compartir, comer, aprender, bailar, cantar y escapar del calor y el sol. Este año queremos ampliarlo!

Necesitamos a gente que se una al grupo de construcción antes de que comience el evento. Si estás pensando llegar antes y quieres formar parte de este equipo, escríbenos!

El Nuevo Foro está abierto

Tuvimos un foro durante el segundo año que celebramos Nowhere, cortesía de Karma Police de Black Rock City. Fue una herramienta importante en la planificación tanto de cómo llegar al terreno, compras, construcción de proyectos…

El equipo web ha estado trabajando duro para poder ofrecer el foro una vez más. Mucha gente prefiere los foros a la wikki. Si eres una de ellas, métete en: http://talk.goingnowhere.org

De momento el trabajo de diseño continua pero ya puedes meterte e investigar.
