So everyone thinks we should recycle right? And those who were there when stuff was taken to landfill will testify we didn't recycle a great deal last year, leave no trace does not mean fill a landfill with all our shit it means try and minimize the impact we have on our surroundings!.
Recycling is EVERYONE's personal responsibility! You bring the stuff in to Nowhere, you take it out Somewhere.. But if you want to have a little fun recycling, stay tuned with the Recycling Camp..
And yes, we need volunteers for a cleanup and recycling. If you have an opportunity to stay longer and help us bring Nowhere site back to virginity, do so.. Please contact Michael (a.k.a. Drunken Nurse) at for more info, add your suggestions here, and so on..
Here are the details of Huesca's Punto Limpio Clean Point recycling station:
Punto Limpio, next to the Polígono Monzú (Monzú industrial estate) in Huesca. Its in the north of the city just off the ring road (Ronda Norte) near Calle Gibraltar.
What you can take: Rubble (limited to 4m3 per visit per day), objects like mattresses, beds, furniture, white goods, glass, paper, cardboard, metals, plastics, bricks, domestic batteries, medicines, fluorescent tubes, etc.
To Do?: Find Punto Limpio's summer opening times.
These need someone to coordinate.. any takers?
There should also be a sign at the recycling area.
[RECYCLING ONLY – DO NOT LEAVE YOUR RUBBISH HERE!]
Recycling Point
Could we perhaps have a post with signs for e.g.
[Glass] [Cans] [Plastic] [Paper]
Bags for each item can then be hung from the post and when full, the bag is replaced with an empty bin bag, the full bag is tied and brought to recycling point.
Recycling Bags should be transparant recycling bags so we can see what waste is being added e.g. such as bags distributed by Lambeth council (there are lots of Lambeth residents, perhaps we can contact Lambeth in advance and Ed and I can transport the bags out in the van?)
I like the idea of the clear rubbish bags. We could even put a tarp over the skip and tie it down then not start to put things in it till the clean-up stage.
A skip is a good idea, but a little bit concerned that people dump there own rubbish into a skip if its there. A skip will also need to be signed [CENTRE CAMP RUBBISH ONLY] Or if we really don't trust people to leave no trace perhaps we can get around this be marking all communal rubbish bags. Any bag that isn't marked as per the others will then be clearly someone trying to offload their crap on their departure.
However I think if people are coming, given all the info they need to make leave no trace and recycling possible then we have to trust that they are willing to follow one of the key principles of the event. Last year some people found it too much trouble to look into bags to check what was recycling and what was rubbish (grumble...grrr) but hopefully clear signs will stop folk mixing general waste and recycling waste.
