In 2005, Spain sufferred its worst drought in decades, a barbecue gone wrong resulted in forest fires and the deaths of 11 firefighters. This resulted in a ban on open fires.
As you can imagine, this affected our activities – though inspired by burning man, it would have been highly insentive for us to burn a man, or indeed any of our art.
We are currently looking at ways around this issue but, for the time being, Art cannot be burned at the end of Nowhere. It is your reponsibility to dispose of your art or arrange for it to be stored in line with the principle of Leave No Trace.
In 2005 a controlled fire performance took place.
Santi and Duero duelled using fire swords made by Big Ed and Michelle.
Kat and Swiss Chris? let loose with fire poi
And Big Ed set alight a burn barrel with his fabulous flamethrower
Afterwards all participants played with sparklers ....
...and huddled around the burn barrel until the flames died.
We are planning a controlled and choreographed performance.

We recommend spinners bring glo toys to play with as no participants will be allowed to light poi unsupervised as we anticipate this year there will also be a blanket ban on fires.
