Nowhere Newsletter – 2006.01 – March 27th 2006

Going No Where? in 101 days!

The clocks have sprung forward and birds are starting to appear, so it's definitely spring now. This means we're only one season away from basking in the sun-baked middle of Nowhere. It also means the start of the Nowhere 2006 newsletters – and we're starting early this year because there's important ticket information, so read carefully...

In this issue:

LOW INCOME TICKETS: 4 DAYS LEFT

As announced by email a few weeks ago, low income tickets at 45 Euros are only available until the end of March – and that's only four days away! So if you're hoping to get one of these you must get in touch as soon as possible – email tickets (at) goingnowhere (dot) org.

Of course, other tickets are available until the end of June at two price levels. We're encouraging people to buy at the highest level they can afford rather than the lowest they can get away with. 60 Euro passes are available until the end of May, 80 Euro passes can be bought up to the end of June.

Full details of tickets, and links to buying the 60 Euro and 80 Euro passes online, are available at http://www.goingnowhere.org/Tickets

ALL-NEW ZINGY NOWHERE WEBSITE AND WIKI

You probably already know about the new Nowhere website at http://www.goingnowhere.org, but now there's also a new wiki for Nowhere at http://wiki.goingnowhere.org.

Much like the familiar euroburners wiki, this is a space where the community can create its own web content without channeling all the updates through one volunteer webmaster. Most of the relevant Nowhere-related content has been brought across from the euroburners wiki, and it's there for you to plan your projects and connect with others going to the event this year.

The euroburners wiki will continue to serve up more general European Burning Man craziness.

COME FRIENDLY CREATURES, FALL ON SLOUGH, er, I mean ON NOWHERE

Agh! How could Slough end up in the same sentence as Nowhere? Anyway, we need friendly creatures to adorn the light posts at Nowhere. They could be anything: smiling dragons that wrap their tails around the posts, guffy birds to sit on top, claiming lips.. whatever strikes your fancy within the surreal and baroque friendliness...

Creatures could be made of any material: metal, plastics, fabric. Size will depend on the creature, but we roughly suggest the size of an overfed cat :)

If you are interested in making one creature or more, please send your idea to strecoza (at) yahoo (dot) com with a quick sketch or example by the end of Easter. There will be a short selective process (by the lamplighting group) and we will announce the outcome by the end of April.

YOUR EVENT NEEDS YOU!

So volunteer! The projects page on the wiki has a list of plans, many of which need your help to make them happen. Last year there was a phenomenal amount of art and work from everyone who went. Everyone's effort and creativity plays a huge part in shaping the event, so think about how you can contribute and get more out of Nowhere by pitching in and helping out.

There's a page on volunteering on the website: http://www.goingnowhere.org/volunteer – check this out and see what you can do.

This year there will be separate construction and clean-up crews so that the same people don't end up working for days beforehand and then again at the end. If you know you can be there early, or can stay late to help clear up, email volunteer (at) goingnowhere (dot)org to let us know.

DOING SOMETHING COOL THIS YEAR?

If you're planning a project for Nowhere, let us know so we can promote it for you (and maybe help find volunteers!). If you're not, head on over to http://wiki.goingnowhere.org/2006/CurrentProjects to see what's going on, gain inspiration and get the low-down on who needs what to complete their masterpiece...

That's all folks – until next time...

The Nowhere Newsletter was brought to you by the Crew, edited by Snow Storm?. If you've got anything to put in the next one please email it in to snowstorm (at) euroburners (dot) org.
