Going Nowhere in 42 days!
Known by many as the meaning of life, 42 is an important number – and equals 6 weeks! So little time... And even less time to buy your tickets if you're planning to buy a 60 Euro pass. It's also time to launch art grants for the first time at Nowhere.
We're attracting attention from across the pond as well, with visitors from America confirming that they're coming. We've got an option for orphans. Read on to find out more, and try not to get tooooo excited that you'll be out there so soon!
Watch this space as well for more frequent newsletters: from now until Nowhere they're coming out to you weekly!
¿Vas a Nowhere?

GOING, GOING...
60 Euro tickets are still available – but only until the end of May! Don't leave it too late – from 1st June the ticket price will be 80 Euros, so get yourself over to
http://www.goingnowhere.org/Tickets and buy yours now. Remember, if you can afford to buy at a higher price please do so as a contribution towards helping others enjoy Nowhere that little bit more.
PROJECT GRANTS MAKE THEIR DEBUT FOR NOWHERE 2006
Thanks to funds raised by London Decompression and Supacompression, there's a limited fund for art grants this year! If you're planning a project for Nowhere that needs just a bit of help to pay for materials, we might be able to help you. Because of the size of the event it's unlikely that we'll be able to pay all your costs, but a grant can make all the difference in making plans a reality.
To be considered for a grant, you'll need to put together a detailed proposal with a breakdown of costs and an illustration of your plans, and tell us how much of the cost you are asking for. Proposals should be sent to artprojects (at) goingnowhere (dot) org by June 12th. Decisions will be made by June 19th and all applicants informed of the decisions as soon as possible after.
Note that the grant money will be released once the project has been realised at Nowhere, and cannot be made available in advance.
MAP THAT PROJECT
I hear there will be a map of No Where with little marks and letters that will show art installations, camps, and whatever else that requires a physical place on the ground...
And here are the two pieces of information that are needed from you, lovelies, to make the MAP happen:
1. Size of your project
2. Preferred location of your project
Please e-mail this info to strecoza (at) yahoo (dot) com as soon as possible...
GETTING THERE...
You've probably seen the information about getting to the site, but noticed that by public transport you couldn't get beyond Tardienta... Well, now we've negotiated a local resident to act as a taxi. Trips cost 28 Euros for up to four people with luggage. Contact Nacho by telephone on 657 137 985.
For those who do not speak Spanish (Nacho only speaks Spanish), Carlota (carlotan (at) yahoo (dot) com) has volunteered to call him. If you need assistance please get in touch with Carlota with how many people and times, dates etc.
If you need to take this taxi but you can't make up a full car, add yourself to the table at http://wiki.goingnowhere.org/2006/TaxiShare with your contact information so that other people can get in touch with you and form a group, or if there are already people on the table travelling at the same time, get in touch with them.
If you have spare space in your car/van to offer to someone coming from further afield than Tardienta, head over to http://wiki.goingnowhere.org/2006/RideShares and add yourself to the table or contact people who need lifts. If you're looking for a ride then look on the same page for help and add yourself to the table if you need to.
ORPHANED? TAKE THE ROAD TO NOWHERE!
Going to Nowhere?
Not sure how you're going to get all your food and water all the way up a mountain? And once you're up there, how are you going to cook it? Maybe you can't speak Spanish, and you find the thought of trying to buy three pounds of organic butternut squash in a village shop a bit daunting?
Worry not, for Road 2 Nowhere is here to help!
A communal camp with a cheery kitchen serving up the best in mountain-top cuisine, Road 2 Nowhere is open to all and sundry.
Come, join us and be happy.*
(*Note that happiness is subject to status, background checks and availability and is strictly limited on a first-come first-served basis. Road 2 Nowhere accepts no liability for loss of ongoing happiness as a result of eating its organic butternut squash.)
GET TOGETHER IN BARCELONA
For those living in Barcelona or near:
We will meet next Friday to talk about plans for Nowhere and Burning Man: help for artistic projects, setting a camp together, getting to Nowhere, expeditions to BM,...
We already have a wiki to coordinate (in spanish only) at
http://www.burningbcn.com
Bring your ideas and proposals, any friends who might be interested, and your playa wear for a small party.
Tomorrow! Friday 26th May in Macroscope Club (C/ Casp 75 M Tetuan L2.)
SHIPPING FROM THE UK
Thanks to a kind offer of assistance from a Nowhere participant (Nooner? Nadia?) there's a solution for anyone who's still trying to work out how to get stuff to site from the UK. Santi is organising this, and you'll need to get in touch pretty soon to be in time to join in the fun on this one as there's a strict deadline on getting it together (or it won't be there in time!). Email contact_santiago (at) hotmail (dot) com for info.
Manda tus peticiones y demas informacion a strecoza (at) yahoo (dot) com lo antes possible.
